Are 30-day or less Short-Term Vacation Rentals such as Airbnb & Vrbo keeping you, or someone you know, from finding an affordable place to live?
Adopting a primary residence requirement will support our residents and workforce. Santa Fe is famous for the lack of affordable workforce housing — one of our biggest local problems.
Now is a good time to do what other tourist and desirable areas such as ours have done — support only owner-occupied short term rentals by adopting a primary resident requirement.
CONTACT YOUR SANTA FE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.
ASK FOR A “PRIMARY RESIDENCE REQUIREMENT.”
A Primary Residence Requirement that grandfathers in all current STRs will not impact Non-Owner Occupied rentals that are currently licensed.

Major Talking Points:
Airbnb, Vrbo and ANY Vacation Short-Term Rental (STRs) that is not the owner’s primary residence contributes to Santa Fe’s housing shortage — especially affordable workforce housing. Santa Fe needs a primary residence requirement for all STRs.
Airbnb and Short-Term Rentals take long-term rentals off the market, raise rents and drive up purchase prices.
Non-Owner Occupied “investor” Airbnbs and STRs displace families and working people.
The conversion of housing for tourist use continues to negatively impact neighborhoods and our community.
Investor STRs often send money out of the county, while owner-occupied STRs keep it in.
